Watch Oprah’s Next Chapter, a two part series exclusively on Discovery Channel and witness her interpretation of India. Oprah travels to Mumbai and experiences the paradox of the city, visits the holy city of Vrindavan, has a spiritual interaction and meets with royalty in Jaipur and soaks in the wonder of the world, Taj Mahal at Agra.
In Episode 1, Oprah explores and experiences the high life of Mumbai. Upon arrival, she is the guest of honour at the party of the year featuring Bollywood’s biggest stars and Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman. Before attending the party, Oprah visits the home of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to meet her newly born daughter.
What do you really need to be a family? Oprah visits a family of five living on Rs. 5,000 a month in the famous slums of Mumbai. The couple and their three daughters live, eat and sleep in one 10-feet-by-10-feet concrete room. Next, she meets an upper middle class family where four generations live happily under one roof. Oprah joins them for her first traditional multicourse Indian meal.
In Episode 2, Oprah visits Vrindavan where 16,000 women have sought refuge after their husband’s demise. Oprah meets with Dr. V. Mohini Giri, a leader in the global women’s movement. A widow herself she’s dedicated more than four decades of her life fighting for the rights of women in India. Oprah too speaks for women to ‘own their voices’.
Oprah also sits down with spiritual guru, Deepak Chopra, in his homeland Jaipur and discusses Deepak's early years, the seeds of his spirituality, karma, aging, and meditation. They discuss the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, one of them being the law of giving - whatever you want you first have to give it. The more you give the more you get.
